In the chaos and confusion of a global pandemic, racial reckoning and financial uncertainty, we at Girl Scouts took a moment to reflect on the priorities and principles which have been our compass for more than a century.

The event was an opportunity for GSKWR to thank all volunteers for their commitment and dedication to girls. The Spirit of Girl Scouting Award, received by Anne Elizabeth Forker, recognizes an outstanding Senior or Ambassador Girl Scout who demonstrates the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism and personality.

Other Awards included 30 community recognition awards, 6 Service Unit awards, 39 Cluster awards, 5 Council awards, 6 National awards, 26 membership recognition awards including five year pins! In addition, the always exciting Cookie Program presentation celebrated the girls who sold more than 1, packages with a fun and creative Cookie Toss video.

This virtual series is deed to highlight extraordinary women who have influenced their local communities and shaped business and civic sectors and to give I miss my Erlanger girls a platform to share their professional and personal experiences. With topics ranging from mentorship to self-care to goal setting, the conversations are lively and varied. Girl Scout programming is at the very heart of the Girl Scout experience.

For more than a century, girls have explored and experimented, delved and discovered, crafted and created — all through Girl Scouts' pillar programs. Our program team pivoted in-person patch-earning opportunities, badge workshops and events to offer 80 virtual Facebook Live events and 46 virtual programs. Most importantly, girls were able to feel connected to the Girl Scout sisterhood while participating in hands-on activities. This ature events featured 20 workshops for a full day of science discoveries. Every Girl Scout Cookie purchase helps the next generation of young female leaders get an important taste of what it takes to be successful — teamwork, planning, goal setting and a positive outlook — and all Cookie proceeds stay local, here in Kentucky.

With cookie booths and door-to-door sales suspended, girls and troops faced surplus inventory and ificant shortfalls in anticipated Cookie revenue. Businesses and individuals came to the rescue and purchased cookies to be donated to health care and essential workers, seniors and other vulnerable populations. Businesses also bought cookies as a morale boost for their employees and as thank you gifts to clients.

The cookie craze continued with the Cookie Relief Challenge, a friendly competition between county law enforcement offices. Hikes were staggered at different times throughout the weekend, and hiker capacity was limited to allow for social distancing and safety protocols. Most of all, it was a great weekend of good Girl Scout fun with family and friends at Camp Judy Layne. The beauty of the Daniel Boone National Forest and the warm sunshine were matched only by the lifted spirits of the Girl Scout hikers. And the Hike the Hills guests — eager for the outdoor adventures and sisterhood of Girl Scout camp — got just what the doctor ordered.

Facebook Live events, such as campfire cooking and backpacking basics, brought the camp experience home. The Leave No Trace series taught campers to plan ahead, prepare, respect wildlife and tread I miss my Erlanger girls. Longtime campers Zoomed a final campfire every Thursday night in July.

Since summer saw our camps quiet, we focused on repairs and improvements to ready them for the campers' anticipated return in We hope to gather around the campfire soon! The Girl Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are awarded to Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador girls who display leadership while engaging in projects that benefit their communities.

They promoted technical and trade career education and mental and emotional health programs. They created a youth physical therapy center, a reflection garden and outdoor classroom, humane society enrichment toys, a shelter dog agility course, and lap blankets for veterans in hospice care.

Girls arrived in cars decorated with Girl Scout spirit and were greeted by peppy Council cheerleaders, s and balloons. Award recipients received goody bags with certificates and pins for caregivers to give to their Girl Scout during the open-air ceremony. These Highest Award recipients identified a need in their communities and developed a sustainable solution, and all of these projects will continue to make a lasting impact for years to come. Letter from the President and CEO was a year that made us all stop and see things more clearly. We adapted the delivery of our programming to safe virtual spaces and connected our girl entrepreneurs to individuals and businesses wanting to purchase Girl Scout Cookies.

We concentrated on living the Girl Scout Promise and Law and, most of all, in making the world a better place. Girl Scouts is a sisterhood, a community and a network of dedicated advocates who champion girl leadership and resiliency. This year has presented many challenges, but it has also reinforced our dedication to the Girl Scout mission. Together, we will move onward, reaching up as well as reaching out. Together, we will continue to transform the leadership landscape for our girls and promote the ideals of courage, confidence and character.
